Concrete Earth III
The Concrete Earth sculpture series is composed of natural and man-made mixed-media which explores perverted and grotesque fantasies of the natural environment in order to examine the physical specificity of objects found in nature, particularly in their inanimate state.
By replacing traditional earth with a concrete one, various types of forms emerge from a soil that is no longer natural, each one carrying its own characteristics, direction, trajectory and even intent.
Witnessing the familiar behave in an unfamiliar and unnatural way haphazardly evokes an aesthetic to nature that feels sinister.
To perceive this sinister scene as if through a dream-like state, with candy-colored hues and emotional poses and expressions, speaks to the phenomenon of being simultaneously attracted to and repulsed by single object, and the uncontrollable duality of fantasy.
